In twentieth-century Germany was the powerful empire, Germany fought the first world war against the Austrian empire, England, France, and Russia in (1914-1918). All joined the war by hoping to gain from a quick victory. After some time they realize that the war would stretch on and Europe almost finish of all its resource. Germany made initial gains by occupying France and Belgium. In 1917 united states entered in the war and help the Allies ( England, France, and Russia). Germany lost the war and lost its overseas colonies, most of the population, territories, and many of its iron and 26 percent of its coal to France, Poland, Denmark, and Lithuania. The power of the Allies weakens the Germany power. The war Guilt clause held Germany responsible for the war and damages the allied country suffered. Germany was forced to pay the compensation amount of 6 billion Euro. The allied armies also occupied the Rhineland in 1920. Many German held the new Weimar Republic responsible for not only the defeat in the war but the disgrace at versatile.

The war had a bad impact on the entire country both psychologically and financially and Europe turned into one of the debtors. Germany had to carried the burden of war guilt and national humiliation, and Germany had to be forced to pay the compensation.
